To begin with, when we were assigned the BHF project I was quite enthusiastic and looked forward to going into schools to present the Jump Rope for Heart scheme. However, the project did not work out. We contacted lots of schools, but none of them wanted to participate in the scheme. Also, after initially contacting schools they took a while responding, and even after visiting three schools, they never let us know they had chosen not to get involved. I found this very frustrating as I just wanted to get the project moving.

In the end when the BHF project got stopped I was feeling very disheartened. Initially, when given the modified task of writing the book I was very demotivated, and did not like the new task. I thought it sounded boring and lacked purpose.  However, once we started working on the project I got into it and became engaged and motivated again.

I began coming up with ideas, and I looked at the assessment criteria and started using this as a direction and purpose for our group. Once talking to others about my ideas, and listening to their ideas, I became very engaged, and started bouncing lots of new ideas off others.

I found the portfolio section more interesting than the book to make. I was motivated and enjoyed constructing the journey we had been on, and doing so in a creative way.

Overall, I feel the project has benefited me in many ways. It has enhanced my interpersonal skills, helped my organisational skills, helped perseverance with a task and helped my confidence. I now feel more confident to tackle tasks which at the beginning seem daunting and challenging.

However, the project also helped me identify an area of weakness. As I was working with friends, if I disagreed with an idea I didn’t like to say as I didn’t want to upset them or cause any problems with the friendship.

In addition, I learnt that I often have an idea in my head of how I want things to be done or how I think it would be best to do something. However, sometimes these conflict with others ideas. I have learnt to be more of a team player, compromise ideas and be more accepting of alternative suggestions and ways of doing things.
