Paul Jolly Photography Chapter 23-2
Processing the result
There are two easy ways to view the 3D photographs, physically separated photographs and colour separated.
The first requires a viewing system that separates the view of each eye where a photograph is presented for
each eye separately and simultaneously, the brain then combines the view to into the 3D representation. This
version give the best colour representation.
In the second method the colours are separated between the eyes one version provides for red part of one
image for the left eye and green and blue of the other image for the right eye. Once more the brain
reconstructs the 3D image from the result.
There are programs available for processing a pair of photographs into colour separation 3D images.
On the following two pages both methods are shown. For the colour separation version you need a red
pass filter for the left eye and green/blue pass filter for the right eye.
If using CMYK inks the filters need to cover the same wavelengths.
Using dual photographs (chapter 23 for a sample) could be viewed using 3D adapters for mobile phones
especially if the pictures are displayed on the phone screen.
